With 25 years of experience, the Welsh Refugee Council is committed to protecting the human rights of asylum seekers and refugees in Wales. We work to:

  • evidence our effectiveness to stakeholders,
  • positively influence perceptions of asylum and migration in Wales,
  • meet the needs of asylum seekers and refugees in Wales and
  • create active participation of asylum seekers and refugees.

Our Mission

To improve the lives of asylum seekers and refugees in Wales through the delivery of specialist support and influence on policy and practice.

Our Vision

To create a Wales where refugees are welcomed and have access to protection, safety and dignity.

Asylum seekers and refugees arrive in Wales fleeing persecution, conflict, torture, rape and abuse from across the Globe. Our work at the Welsh Refugee Council relies on a specialist approach, where one-to-one contact is provided, where the improvement of the lives of those seeking sanctuary is a priority and where the drive to influence policy and best practice is unfailing.

We are passionate about supporting people who are seeking sanctuary and are dedicated to promoting positive perceptions of migration across Wales. Our core group of dedicated staff and volunteers underpins the Welsh Refugee Council’s continued success and collectively our aim is to create a Wales where refugees are welcomed and treated with dignity and respect.

If you think you could make a difference to the lives of asylum seekers and refugees by donating or becoming a volunteer, please head over to our ‘Get Involved’ page. We would love to hear from you.
